Today:
A fun book related coffee mug
While buying a cookie at Barnes and Noble for my son (yes for my son not me!) I was looking at the coffee mug display. I’m always looking for a cute new mug. Well I found a super fun one! It says “Books to Read” with lines and you can write you TBR list on it using a white board pen. Then it wipes off when it’s time to change! I knew I had to have it for school, so my students would get even more book titles shown to them.

Check out the pics.

The back
My only concern is how easily the writing will rub off when I hold the mug.  I’ll deal with it if it does just because I had to have it 🙂

Today I’m sharing with you the Book Buddy. This is a cool pillow that holds your book for you so you don’t have to.  The idea is that sitting and reading will be more comfortable without having to hold the book.  I saw this awhile back and thought it looked kinda cool.  My only question is how much I’d useit.  I do think it would be great for people with arthritis, fibromyalgia or limited mobility.
You can find them at Reading Comfort.com as well as various other online stores.

Here’s my favorite design.
And here’s it holding a book.
What are your thoughts about it?

A New Sunday Shelves

As some of you know I do a semi-regular feature called Sunday Shelves where we look at other bloggers’ bookshelves.  Well I’m still learning about myself as a blogger and what I have time for and what I don’t.  I’m finding that I don’t have the time to make sure I’ve contacted a blogger, get the guest post etc.  So I’ve decided to change my Sunday Shelves to something I can do better.
Sunday Shelves will now be a multitude of things about books.  It might be cool bookshelves I’ve seen or shelves of other bloggers.  It might be cool books I’ve found that you should add to your bookshelf.  It might me items related to reading like bookmarks, artwork, or things other bloggers are doing. Sunday Shelves will be anything related to reading and book.  Things your bookshelves might want added to them 🙂

If you really liked the idea of seeing other bloggers’ bookshelves check out Book Chick City.  She’s doing a much better job at a blogger bookshelf feature.  Here’s her current post on the topic.

Sunday Shelves

For today’s Sunday Shelves I searched the internet for some cool home libraries (except for the lower left.  I just liked that one.)  I found these to be drool worthy!
Aren’t they amazing! My favorite is the top middle.

Sunday Shelves – My Classroom

I am weirdly facinated by other people’s bookshelves and why they arrange them how they do. I took this and created a weekly feature, Sunday Shelves. In this feature I highlight the bookshelves of different bloggers and readers.
This week I thought I’d rerun one of my first posts showing my classroom bookcases

There are 500+ books for students to check out.  In these pictures you’ll see the bookcases (4 of them), the area where I’ll highlight books, reviews etc, and all the owl stuff I’ve bought to tie my blog to my classroom.  You’ll also see my rain gutters.  These are at the front of my classroom, and they allow me to display books cover-side out.  I see students picking up these books more than any other ones in my room.  Lastly you’ll see how I’m able to display my blog on the Smartboard in my room.

In my classroom my book are arranged alphabetically by title so they are easier to find.  That is if the students put them back in the right place 🙂

If you click on the little speech bubble on the bottom left, you’ll see picture descriptions. Enjoy!

Sunday Shelves April 18

Normally on Sunday Shelves I highlight a blogger and their bookshelves.  This week is a bit different.  A few weeks back Cym Lowell linked to an amazing story on his blog.  It is the story of a man who over came big health issues to make a library for his brother.

It may sound cheesy or simple, but what this man’s story reminded me is that there is so much more to life than collecting the books I want to read.  Life goes beyond that.

One picture of this library is below.  Please go to the original blog for the full story of Do You Believe in Miracles?
