Sprinkles and Secrets

Release: September 20

Why I’m Waiting

Simple one here:  I so loved the first book, It’s Raining Cupcakes, (well companion book since it’s not a true sequel).  It was such a great book for the tween set, so I completely believe this one will be too!  Besides that cover is adorable!!!!!

Summary

In this companion novel to It’s Raining Cupcakes, twelve-year-old Sophie has a dream come true when she’s offered a TV commercial spot. She’s not just happy about the opportunity, she’s over the moon happy!

But then she finds out what exactly she’ll be advertising: the delectable, ever-popular brownies from Beatrice’s Brownies, which just so happens to be the number one competitor to It’s Raining Cupcakes, a cupcake shop owned by her best friend, Isabel’s, family.

Sophie has a tough choice to make: Follow her dreams or crush her best friend. What’s a girl to do?

Bloodlines
by Richelle Mead
Release: August 23

Why I’m Waiting

I had several girls that got hooked on the Vampire Academy series this school year (I hadn’t had any before), so I’m excited that there will be a new series for them to read.

Summary

When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Bloodlines explores all the friendship, romance, battles and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive – this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone’s out for blood.

I’m Waiting On

The Fox Inheritance
by Mary E. Pearson
Release: Aug 30th

Why I’m Waiting

I read and enjoyed The Adoration of Jenna Fox, but always felt like there was more to tell.  I had no clue a sequel was even in the works.  So I’m very curious to see what this book tells us that goes beyond the first book.  I also love that it picks up so much  more later – that always adds a level to the story!

Summary

Once there were three. Three friends who loved each other—Jenna, Locke, and Kara. And after a terrible accident destroyed their bodies, their three minds were kept alive, spinning in a digital netherworld. Even in that disembodied nightmare, they were still together. At least at first. When Jenna disappeared, Locke and Kara had to go on without her. Decades passed, and then centuries.

Two-hundred-and-sixty years later, they have been released at last. Given new, perfect bodies, Locke and Kara awaken to a world they know nothing about, where everyone they once knew and loved is long dead.

Everyone except Jenna Fox.

An earthquake and the discovery of a mysterious antique mirror unleash forces that jolt sixteen-year-old Addie McNeal back to 1917 Seattle, just as the United States is entering World War I. Addie finds herself shuttling back and forth between past and present, drawn in both times to the grand Jewel Theater. In both decades the existence of the Jewel is threatened and war is looming . . . and someone she cares about is determined to fight.

Eventually, Addie realizes that only she has the key to saving the Jewel—and the lives of her friends. But will she figure out how to manipulate the intricately woven threads of time and truly set things right?

Why I’m Waiting
More time travel! It’s exciting to see how time travel in YA is just taking off.  I also like that it’s set in WWI which is a part of history not always used.  We usually see WWII instead.  Lastly I like that it doesn’t seem to be romance focused.  Those three aspects push it to the top of my “want” pile!

This series is just cute and fun, and I love books like that.  I have many many girls that love this series.  Basically thing Diary of a Wimpy Kid for girls.  And what a relatible girl.  Although she’s a bit dramatic – she is a pretty typical tween girl.  Can’t wait for this one.

Summary
Since we first met Nikki Maxwell, she’s been doing everything she can to keep everyone at school from learning the truth–that she’s there on scholarship in exchange for her Dad working as the school’s exterminator. The last thing Nikki needs is having her friends and–worst case scenario–her crush, Brandon, associating her with the humongous roach on top of her Dad’s van! Now it looks like her secret could be about to come out, and Nikki’s willing to go to any zany and wacky length to prevent that from happening. The timing seems perfect when a major talent competition is announced with a school scholarship offered as the top prize. Nikki loves to sing and dance and now she gets to have tons of fun with her friends while competing for a chance to free her Dad from his obligation! (And free herself from all that potential damage to her reputation . . .) Once again, hijinks and misunderstandings aplenty ensue, as well as more hilarious and heartwarming moments with all our favorite characters.
